Lucia Cox is from Burnley, Lancashire in the UK and is a writer, director and producer.

Lucia attended Burnley Youth Theatre and caught the theatre bug starring in productions of Cabaret, Harold and Maude and performing at the National Student Drama and Ilfracombe Festivals. She studied at drama school in London under John Wright (Told By and Idiot).

In 2009, Lucia returned to her studies and gained a Masters in Creative Writing after which came a commission from the Anthony Burgess Foundation to adapt, produce and direct the Burgess novel One Hand Clapping which was selected for the Re:Play Festival at The Lowry. The production performed at the Brits Off Broadway Festival in New York, 2015 to sold-out audiences and favourable reviews. The play is published by Bloomsbury Methuen and can be purchased here.

Lucia wrote and performed for the BBC Learning site, writing short stories, monologues and plays, offering her voice over skills for many of the productions.

Lucia returned to London in 2017 to work with Glynis Henderson Productions on the international and West End phenomenon, STOMP. In 2019, Lucia was producer on London’s Free Open Air Theatre Season producing two outdoor productions - Twelfth Night and The Sea Queen.

Lucia has also worked for Iris Theatre, Crossroads UK, Magic Mike Live, Donmar Warehouse, The Big House and Burnley Youth Theatre.

She has also written for several publications including Whats On Stage, Northern Soul, International Arts Manager Magazine and Performing Artists Yearbook.

Lucia is now a freelance theatre-maker, directing and producing all over the UK with several projects slated for the forthcoming year.

Lucia lives in North London with cats who have their own cat nanny.
